In architectural lighting there is a light called a 'spike light' which is a luminaire with a small spike that is driven into the ground to uplight trees. This is my version of a spike light. It's 1.2 meters high and internally lit with 6 x 55w compact fluorescent, each one comparable to 300w incandescent bulb. Sides of the spike light are made from diffuser acrylic outlined with metallic chrome trim and chrome finished chain.
