Glass, Concrete, imbedded light globe powered by Solar Energy
Sculptural lighthouse 5 stories high
Two conceptual designs for a lighthouse to be created for maritime themed development in Dubai that centers on the maritime industry. The lighthouse concept would be situated at the end of the pennisula and act as a sculptural centerpiece that reflects the themes of the development and can be seen from boats entering the marina as well as people from the mainland.
The first design is a giant waterdrop frozen in mid-splash.
Water represents the surrounding environment and the general industry for this development, while the action of the waterdrop, something that happens quickly, also represents the speed of progress. This lighthouse is made of clear refractive material (glass, resin, or similar material) with a light globe incased in the waterdrop that glows at night and is powered by solar energy.
The second design is a giant plant bud that represents the life and growth of this development. Made of concrete or similar such materials, the bud also glows at night.
